After years of struggling to earn a living, Matt decided to quit. “
It was an insane time to be a janitorship worker.”
After years of struggling to earn a living, Matt decided to quit.
But after he left, he was offered a job as a janitter at a hotel near the McDonald’s.
The next day, Matt took the job and started cleaning.
But after just two months of working in the hotel, Matt felt like his life was over.
He started to question his decision to leave McDonalds.
“I think that for a lot of people that are in that situation, there’s a certain amount of pride that you want to keep on the job,” he said.
“You want to be able to keep the badge and keep the job.”
After a month and a half of cleaning the hotel’s bathrooms, Matt was offered another job.
But Matt said he was so stressed about being laid off from McDonalds that he was hesitant to take the job.
Matt had spent three years cleaning hotels and restaurants around the country.
But he said he had no experience with cleaning hotels.
After several months of being laid-off, Matt finally made a decision to take a break from his job.
“My wife was like ‘I’m just going to get an apartment, we’re going to move to New York and do something else,'” he said, explaining that he had been working part-time at McDonalds since November.
Matt told me he was nervous about his new job and that he did not know if he would be able pay rent or take care of his family.
After all, he said that his only real income was cleaning restaurants.
But he decided to take his time and focus on his new life.
“It’s a little bit like being an artist, where you’re trying to figure out what you want and you’re kind of like a kid at school,” he explained.
“I’m kind of a creative person.”
