The paperless worker has found himself in a tough spot when his job as a maintenance worker has been eliminated in the last couple of years.
Mr Martin said he had been told he would not be allowed to work again because of the changes in the way companies are employing people.
“I’ve been offered a job as an information and analytics professional,” Mr Martin said.
“It’s not a position that I have applied for in the past and the only reason that I applied for it was to be able to work more efficiently.”
But I think it’s not going to be available because it’s been eliminated.
“Mr Martin applied for the position and has been working for the company for about a year.
But this year the paperless work was axed from the site.”
We just lost a paperless job for the last two weeks,” he said.”[We] were offered a position for maintenance, but they have eliminated paperless and are not hiring anyone in that role.
“Mr Cottrell said the paper, which he uses to hold documents in a bag, had to be folded.”
This bag is the way we use paper and we don’t fold it in any way, shape or form,” he explained.”
So, I can’t fold papers or even fold the paper myself.
“Paper has been a problem for us and I’m just trying to get a job.”
The company said it was working with the Department of Employment to ensure its employee was able to find another position.
“The Government is committed to ensuring all Australian workers have a voice and a voice to ensure their rights are respected,” a spokesperson said.
